Adaptive Reuse: Process and Perspective
Craig Garcia, AIA, Principal and Perspective

Participants, through review of several recent projects, will understand the benefits and process by directing a property owner’s “vision” through adaptive reuse.

Case studies include:

  • Axelrad Beer Garden; adaptive reuse as the only solution integrating family history on a shoestring budget
  • 306 Main Street: historical importance integrated into the design and direction of a main street project.
  • Cadeco Industries: coffee production and spirits in a WWII structure
Craig Garcia, AIA, NCARB is founding principal of Gage Architecture, Inc. Craig began his career working with firms specializing in hospital, industrial and financial institutions. Craig, with a leap of faith started his own firm specializing in adaptive reuse and historical preservation. Gage has developed adaptive reuse projects throughout the Houston area and historical residential projects in Harpers Ferry Virginia. Gage Architecture is an award winning firm focusing on adaptive reuse, historical preservation and community developments with historical significance.
