We'll provide tools, materials, and lunch. Feel free to bring pens/pencils and a notepad.
Course schedule:
Day 1 (Saturday, January 25): Day 1 will focus on the Mechanical Makeover: the process of properly removing sashes from the frame, taking a window apart, restoring the balance or operating systems, assessing the condition of the sashes and frame, and putting it back together. We’ll also cover prep work, including removing old paint and glazing putty and making necessary repairs. You’ll also learn the terminology of a wood window, basic tools needed for the work, and recommended materials.
Day 2 (Sunday, January 26): Day 2 will build upon Day 1 and will include the completion of prep work and re-painting the sash, cleaning the glass, making sure hardware is in place and working, and sash re-installation. Intermediate skills may include glass replacement, re-glazing, and spot wood repair or replacement. Completion of the 2-day Certification Course will result in the awarding of Rehabber Club Contractor Certification, which will place you/your company on our Certified Contractor List.
